LAURIUM - Lionel "Cheche" Haischer, 77, a resident of Kearsarge Street, passed away at his home on Friday evening April 28, 2012.
He was born on September 25, 1934, a son of the late John and Ruth (Honold) Haischer.
He graduated from Calumet High School with the class of 1953.
On May 31, 1980, he was married to Carol Outinen.
Cheche worked for First of America Bank in Calumet as a custodian and most recently for Laurium Marathon. He spent a lot of time with his coffee klatch friends at Johns Restaurant, Burger King, McDonald's and Hardee's. He enjoyed meeting and talking to people. Being a lifelong resident of Laurium gave him a great knowledge of local historian.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Laurium.
He is survived by his wife Carol; numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday May 2, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the Erickson Crowley Funeral Home in Calumet with the Rev. James Fundum to officiate.
Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Funeral Home in Calumet on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m.
Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Ahmeek.
