WATERTOWN, Wis. - Finlandia doubled its 2012 baseball win total with a pair of victories at Maranatha Baptist Bible College Friday, 7-2 and 8-3.

Finlandia broke open a close game one with three runs in the sixth, then tacked on two more in the seventh.

Alex Miller got the win, allowing two earned runs on five hits in a seven-inning complete game. He struck out nine and walked one.

James Brey had a pair of hits and drove in three runs, while Ashton Coleman also had a two-hit day.

Brey came up big in game two as well, repeating his two-hit, three-RBI output and contributing a home run in the four-run fourth inning that put the Lions ahead for good.

Cody Mahler added a pair of hits while Gerard Taylor drove in two RBIs, had a hit and walked twice.

Kris Turunen had the complete game, allowing three runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts and no walks.

The day before, Finlandia lost 13-8 and 5-4 in a doubleheader at Kalamazoo College.

Finlandia scored three times in the top of the first, but gave all the runs back in the bottom of the inning, plus six more in the second.

The Lions turned a 5-4-3 triple play in the fifth, but by that point, it was already a 13-3 game.

Mahler was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, while Miller had two hits. Preston Hutchens took the loss.

In game two, the Lions tied it up with three runs in the top of the seventh only to lose on a Hornet walk-off.

Catcher Tyler Fredricks had a 2-for-3 game and drove in three runs with his game-tying homer in the seventh.

Jon Crawford took the loss, allowing four earned runs and seven hits in a 6 2/3-inning complete game. He struck out four but walked six.

Finlandia (4-16) returns home for a pair of doubleheaders Saturday and Sunday against Lawrence University.
