CHASSELL - George and Betty (Luusua) Uuro celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Jan. 6, 2012, with a dinner with their family at the U.P. North Lodge in Gwinn.
They were married in Chassell Jan. 6, 1962. A reception was held at the Moose Lodge in Ishpeming.
Attendants were Sherwood Morcom of Ishpeming and Gloria (Luusua) Kanerva of Gladstone.
George graduated from Ishpeming High in 1954.
Betty graduated from Chassell High in 1960.
They have five children: Allen (Denise) Uuro of Ishpeming, Keith (Jeanne) Uuro of Wetumpka, Ala., Gene (Lori) Uuro of Champion, Wendy (Mike) Rautio of Gwinn and Gary (Amy) Uuro of Ishpeming.
