Recently Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly received a donation of over 100 cords of firewood from the closing of Camp Kitwen.
While the donation was wonderful, the process of retrieving the wood was a huge endeavor. The firewood was cut into 3 to 4 foot lengths and split once so it was too small for logging trucks to haul. We want to say a huge thank you to several local companies that donated their trucks, their drivers and their gas to move the wood out to our two wood lots in Tapiola and Chassell.
Thank you so much Moyle Construction who trucked more than 60 cords, Yalmer Mattila Contracting and the many individual volunteers who used their pick ups and trailers on Saturday, Oct. 10 to complete this huge job.
A special thank you to Ernie Tepsa for loading all these trucks and trailers with his logging rig.
Thanks to your help, we will continue to provide wood to needy elderly people in the Copper Country.
