Sioux rally to sweep Huskies/Huskies Insider
Michigan Tech got off to a good start both nights in its series with North Dakota this past weekend. The Huskies led 1-0 after the first period Friday and held a 2-1 advantage going to the third on Saturday. Tech scored a pair of power-play goals in game two and held the Fighting Sioux to just one goal on 14 power play chances in the series. But as well as the Huskies played early, North Dakota was able to come from behind and win on both nights. The Fighting Sioux scored five unanswered goals in the second and third Friday and added the two decisive goals in the third Saturday. “I think a big factor in that is the depth that we have,” Tech coach Jamie Russell said of North Dakota’s come-from-behind wins. “Friday I thought we got hammered on face-offs. “Every time the puck was dropped they started with possession. We had a great first period, but with a young team we have to show composure. That’s a tough building to play in. It’s loud and it really gets rocking in there.
