Word of the Day — December 25, 2012

December 26, 2012 - Scott Viau
Houska yolua — HOWS-kah YOH-lu-ah — Merry Christmas in Finnish

Example: "In Michigan's Upper Peninsula you'll hear 'Houska yolua' as often as the usual Christmas greeting in English" (the Finns, by the way, use one of the rare languages in which the first syllable is heavily accented — as opposed to, say, French, which usually accents the final syllable).
