Word of the Day — December 18, 2012

December 19, 2012 - Scott Viau
Imprimatur — im-pree-MAH-ture — permission to print, show or practice something that is of a good standard (usually used by the Catholic Church to guarantee proper words or actions)

Example: "In David Denby's favorable review of the documentary 'Central Park Five,' he commented: 'The fact that the film has the imprimatur of Ken Burns (cinema's premier celebrant of mainstream Americana) makes it that much more potent.'"
