Kitsch — KITCH — art objects or design thought to be in poor taste because of excesses, garishness or oversentimentality (but could be appreciated sometimes in an ironic way)
Example: "In Ken Johnson's article on the photographs of Francesca Woodman, he said that 'her borderline kitschy style, a heated mix of Victorian Gothic, Surrealism and 19th century spirit photography, was quite a throwback.
