More accolades!

March 8, 2012 - Michael Bleach
Tech women's point guard Sam Hoyt and men's forward Ali Haidar were named to the Daktronics All-Midwest Region Second Team Wednesday.

Whatever the heck that means.

Still, awards and plaques are always fun, and with both Hoyt and Haidar winning GLIAC First-Team considerations and Haidar winning the GLIAC Player of the Year Award, the Huskies have brought in some hardware this season.

All of which either team would gladly trade back for a trip the NCAA's.

Curiously, Ashland forward Evan Yates and Wayne State forward Ike Udanoh — who by far did the best job defensively on Haidar this season in Tech's 60-54 loss to Wayne — both were First-Team selections, even though the conference coaches voted Haidar the player of the year.

If this awards contradictions keep up, I am going to have to launch The Bleachers All-First Team just to serve as a tiebreaker.

And the Division II basketball world waits on bated breath.
